Keepin' Cool

Hey friends!  So it is summer in Texas, which means it is HOT HOT HOT (today's high temp is forecasted a toasty 103).  Staying cool and hydrated is a priority if you want to avoid being a total sweaty grumpster!  Since kicking the Diet Coke habit a week or two ago, I've found a new, refreshing beverage of choice.  Enter the Arnold Palmer: half lemonade, half iced tea, all delicious.  BTW, a quick internet search revealed that there are canned Arnies available.  Blarrrgghh!  Nothing less than homemade for this treehouse-dweller!  What is your favorite frosty beverage for the summer?

  1. So far this summer my favorite drink has been a large ice water with lemon or lime from the Sonic. I don't like tea but do still love a Diet Coke or Pepsi but they are not good thirst quinchers. Keep cool, Keep drinking!

  2. My favorite summer drink is an ice cold glass of water with fresh lime or a glass of iced tea also with lime. Either way it needs to have crushed ice - boy I love that crushed ice!

  3. Oohh- I agree! Crushed ice, or even the little ice pellets at some restaurants (e.g. Sonic) can make an ordinary drink delicious!

  4. Living in Texas as long as I have, I've never become a tea drinker -- sweet or "unsweet." (Does that bother anyone other than me?) However, when mixed with some lemonade it might be more palatable...

I must admit that when I heard the name of your drink, I felt certain that there would be a stiff shot of something manly included. Bourbon? Whiskey? (Are those the same? I'm not much of a drinker...)

Anyway, have you tried it over smunchy ice from Sonic? Sound fabulous!

As for myself, I'll just have a crystal light raspberry lemonade!

  5. Arnold Palmers are good. I had never heard of them till I moved up here in New York. Seems to be quite popular here. You know what else is HUGE here? Arizona Iced Tea, and Snapple. haha. I thought that was funny. Every store has a huge selection of both. It's hot here, too. HUMID! I finally got an AC unit put in the other day! So that means only my bedroom is cool. Cool photo!
